“WE HAVE HOPE”

“WE HAVE HOPE” was the project proposed to CATL Fontainhas through the platform “Inside Out project”, conceived by the international artist, JR, who won the TED prize at the TED Conference in Long Beach, California, where he presented the idea of an Art project global participatory approach with the potential to change the world. This project is inspired by the large format street “collages” giving everyone the opportunity to share their portrait and make a statement for what they represent. This created a global platform for people to share their untold stories and transform messages of personal identity into works of public art. The kids were excited to take pictures with their portraits and what I saw was that they felt important to their family, friends and neighborhood.
Seeing the joy and enthusiasm of the kids and their families was, for me, the biggest compensation of this whole process. Many children came to thank me (and the “Inside Out Team”) for allowing them to be part of such an amazing project. And in the end we can say that we feel HOPE …. hope for the future of these children!
